Botox

Soften fine lines and wrinkles to obtain a more youthful look with noninvasive Botox® injections. The injectable wrinkle reducer is the most popular cosmetic procedure in the United States and FDA-approved.

What is Botox?
Botox is a medication made from a purified toxin. When injected into facial muscles, it temporarily eases the severity of their contractions. This means lines and wrinkles that form when you frown, squint, and smile are less obvious.
Botox is well-researched and highly effective in helping men and women look younger with a smoother, softer complexion.

Where is Botox used?
Botox is effective in treating lines and wrinkles caused by common expressions. These include:

  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Smile lines between the eyebrows
  • Horizontal forehead creases

You can choose to have a specific problem area treated or have a complete treatment that addresses all of these places. In addition, Botox can sometimes be used to smooth vertical neck cords and a pin cushion appearance to the chin as well.

Who is a good candidate for Botox injections?
Anyone older than 18 can benefit from Botox. Although the injectable is typically used to treat wrinkles, some people start them early, before wrinkles form, to halt muscle action and prevent lines and wrinkles from appearing in the first place.

Do Botox treatments hurt?
Botox is administered using an injection, so you will feel a pinch each time the needle punctures the skin. The needle is quite fine, however, and most people tolerate the treatment without any topical numbing creams.

Do I schedule downtime following Botox injections?
You can go back to all of your regular activities following Botox. You may have slight redness or bruising at the injection sites, which fades within a few days, and makeup can easily cover.

How long do the wrinkle-reducing effects of Botox last?
Botox eases wrinkles and lines for three to four months. After that, you need to repeat the treatment to maintain the new, wrinkle-free smoother look. Dr. Cui puts you on a regular treatment schedule.
