Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal
Waxing, shaving, and plucking do remove unwanted hair, but they’re a hassle, can lead to irritation, and require constant maintenance.
How does laser hair removal work?
Dr. Cui uses a state-of-the-art laser to beam energy at your skin. The heat penetrates your outer layer to reach the follicles below. When these follicles heat up to a specified temperature, they can no longer survive or produce hair.
You experience no damage to your skin during laser hair removal. Each treatment lasts 10-30 minutes, depending on the treatment area. You enjoy at least an 85-90% reduction in hair in areas treated.
What areas can laser hair removal treat?
KyLaser hair removal is effective just about anywhere you have unwanted hair. Common areas of treatment include:
- Underarms
- Bikini line
- Arms and legs
- Chest and back
- Upper lip and chin
Men and women both benefit from laser hair removal. Most skin types are also eligible for the sessions.
How should I prepare for laser hair removal?
Shaving in the weeks prior to your laser hair removal is fine, but don’t wax or pluck because the hair root needs to be intact for the laser treatments to work.
You should also stay out of the sun and tanning beds for several weeks before your sessions; tanned skin doesn’t respond as well to laser hair removal technology.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
Most people get results in 3-7 sessions. Those with denser, darker hair tend to require a greater number of sessions. Dr. Cui usually recommends you keep up with laser hair removal treatments until hair stops growing.
You need multiple sessions because hair grows in cycles. To be effective, laser hair removal needs to target the follicles while they are in a growth cycle – but not all follicles are on the same growth pattern.
Is laser hair removal painful?
Laser hair removal is usually well tolerated, even without a topical anesthetic. You should expect to feel warmth and prickling sensations. Cooling gel and/or ice packs applied immediately afterward help ease any discomfort.
Should I schedule downtime following laser hair removal?
You don’t need downtime after your laser hair removal treatments. Work, workouts, and daily chores are all acceptable immediately after. You will have some redness in treated areas, but it usually fades within a few hours.
Do take precautions to stay out of the sun for several weeks following laser hair removal treatments. Your skin is temporarily quite sensitive to ultraviolet rays.
